Tomorrow is the feast of the
Archangels: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael. We ask for
their intercession outside of Planned Parenthood as we make a plea for
your help.
Once again, we are urgently in
need of your sacrifices Saturday and into early next week to keep our
vigil going! We need your IMMEDIATE ACTION to fill many vigil hours in
the coming days. If you can, sign up for a regularly scheduled hour or

Saturday, (9/29/12): 1 person needed at 6:00pm and 8:00pm, 2 people at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00pm
Sunday hours are filled! Thank you prayer warriors!
Monday, (10/01/12): Only 58% of the hours are filled! 20 hours are open!
Tuesday, (10/02/12): 71% of the hours are filled! 14 hours in need!
You know where to sign up.....vigilforlife.org or email info@vigilforlife.org.
Prayer Intention for today....
Let
us pray for those who work in the abortion industry, and for those who
have repented of committing abortions and have resolved to defend life.
Therefore
I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than
food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the
air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
—Matthew 6:25-26
Loving
heavenly Father, help us to see the worth of all human beings by the
way in which you provide for us. We would ask that you provide also the
faith, grace and courage to enable us to protect that which is so
precious to you. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Your Sacrifice is Needed! Rules of the Road
The kick-off event last night was fantastic with the spiritual encouragement offered
by Fr. Heilman and the talk given by Steve Koob from One More Soul.
Unfortunately, Bishop Morlino was unable to join us but we know his
spiritual support was with us. We have no doubts that God has great
plans for 40 Days for Life this year... we can see that by the response
of our prayer warriors so far. Thanks be to God - Our first day and
today's hours are filled! Please keep it up!
But while we're covered for today, we need you this weekend and Monday to maintain and build on our great start! We need the immediate action of all of you to see to it that 40 Days for Life can actually continue as a 24/7 campaign! If each of us makes a sacrifice right away to sign-up for our first hour or sign-up for more hours for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, we will keep the momentum going!
Friday (9/28/12): 1 person needed at 2:00am, 1 at 3:00am
Saturday (9/29/12): Only 69% filled - 15 hours to fill! Please help!
Sunday (9/30/12): 1 person needed at 12 noon
Monday (10/1/12): Only 50% filled - YIKES!
We need you NOW! 40 Days for Life requires heroic sacrifice, and we are asking for your heroic sacrifice on behalf of the unborn babies and the mothers and fathers who need to be shown another way. Go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/ monthview to sign up for hours or contact info@vigilforlife.org.
Our trust is in the Lord -praise God!
Vigil Location: The sidewalks in front of Planned Parenthood (3706 Orin Road, Madison, WI 53704).
Vigil Hours: 24/7 from 8:00 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2012 through 6:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Parking: Please note that – especially during daytime hours – parking may be rather limited. Typically people park along either Orin road or the frontage road in the free 2-hour parking zone. To ensure smooth vigil shift transitions, it is often helpful for persons to arrive 5-10 minutes before their scheduled time shift begins. (PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE WOMEN'S CARE CENTER PARKING LOT as noted below on page 2.)
Meeting Place: Participants should gather on the sidewalk near the driveway to Planned Parenthood to meet up with the coming and going prayer warriors. This is a mobile vigil, so moving around and walking while praying is acceptable. You must hand off the Official Vigil Bag and vigil signs by the Planned Parenthood driveway. Stay on the sidewalk or terrace (parkway, easement) and do not block the sidewalk.
DO NOT STEP ONTO PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S PRIVATE PROPERTY!
Statements of Peace: Based on advice from the National 40 days for Life Campaign, all participants are required to sign a hardcopy of the new Statement of Peace, even if you have signed one previously. This is because the content has changed slightly and because, starting this Fall, we will be collecting and filing these signed hard copies. (The new Statement of Peace will remain “on file” for you for all future Vigil for Life activities in a permanent Madison Vigil for Life file, until you decide to revoke it.) There will be blank sign-able copies of the Statement of Peace in the Vigil Bag. For those with computer access, a PDF copy can be downloaded from vigilforlife.org. This can be printed, signed, and either placed in the vigil bag folder or sent to the address listed on the bottom. (Please Note: You cannot sign this form electronically or submit a scanned signed copy)
Official Vigil Bag: Contains several items and, in case of rain, can be zipped shut –
Vigil Signs: There are 2 official signs. PLEASE DO NOT BRING OTHER SIGNS. The first sign says “Pray to End Abortion” and identifies us as prayer warriors with the 40 Days for Life campaign. The second sign advertises “The Option Line” which is a national hotline that offers counseling and resources to abortion-minded men and women. This second sign offers help to the men and women who go into Planned Parenthood without us even needing to open our mouths. These official signs may be worn or carried. If you choose not to wear/carry these signs, please put them in your car during your shift and bring them back out for the incoming prayer warriors. To comply with police instructions, we must not set them down unattended on the ground, lean them against a tree, etc.
Signing-In: Scheduled persons should sign their name (not initials) next to their printed name on the daily sign-in sheet. Visitors are also encouraged to sign in on the daily schedule somewhere within the associated time-slot area in which they are present.
Women’s Care Center: PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE WCC & DO NOT PARK IN THE WCC PARKING LOT – even though it is located across from Planned Parenthood.
Here’s why: Although the WCC supports the efforts of Vigil for Life, their role and mission are separate and distinct. The primary role of the WCC is to establish a confidential trusting relationship with women in crisis. Out of respect, we MUST keep our distance.
If, at a separate time, you would like to learn more about the good work that the WCC is doing, please call them at(608) 241-8100. PLEASE DONOT DROP IN UNANNOUNCED.
Restrooms: If you need to use the restroom, there is a PDQ on the corner of Stoughton Road & Anderson St. and a McDonalds on the corner of Stoughton Road & Kinsman Blvd.
Weather: The vigil site weather can range from pleasant to very hot or cold, and is often marked by strong winds and rain, so dress appropriately. Some keep extra clothing in their trunk “just in case.” If you must take cover from the weather, please pray from your car.
Police Information: We do not expect problems. You have a right to hold vigil outside of Planned Parenthood. If you feel like others are preventing you from doing so, or you feel threatened, proceed to your vehicle or other safe area, then take the appropriate next steps...
For emergencies –call 911.
For non-emergency –police number is (608)-245-3652.
Our police contacts during daytime hours are:
Lieutenant Carl Strasburg
Captain Cameron LeMay
After 8 PM you can call dispatch at (608)-266-4275
If you ever do make police contact, inform 40 Days for Life Director Bette Weisshaar at (608)-358-5963. Remember that there is also an Incident Log in the Official Vigil Bag to record any incidents of concern. As always, obey all law enforcement personnel.
Contact Information: You should call (not email), Bette Weisshaar at (608)-358- 5963 immediately for the following reasons:
1. You will be significantly late for your scheduled vigil shift
2. You cannot make your vigil hour and are unable to arrange for a substitute.
Let us pray,
Lord, we thank you for those who have repented of committing abortions and have resolved to defend life. We too repent and resolve. We repent of every instance in which fear has made us si- lent when we should have spoken.
We repent of the ongoing bloodshed in our land, and for thinking that we can deprive the unborn of protection but keep it for ourselves.
We resolve that we will advance the cause of righteous candidates for pub- lic office, and that we will be more afraid of offending you by our silence than of offending others by our speech. We resolve that we will proclaim your name to the nations, through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
But while we're covered for today, we need you this weekend and Monday to maintain and build on our great start! We need the immediate action of all of you to see to it that 40 Days for Life can actually continue as a 24/7 campaign! Prayer Countdown - 2 Days until 40 Days
Let us prepare ourselves in prayer for
the start of 40 Days for Life (in 2 days!), asking for the Holy Spirit
to inspire and strengthen us!
Let us pray,
Let us pray,
Come, Holy
Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire
of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You
shall renew the face of the earth.
Bend the stubborn heart and will, melt the frozen, warm the chill. Guide the steps that go astray!
Come, O Spirit of
Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their
exceeding greatness, power and beauty. Teach me to love them above and
beyond all the passing joys and satisfactions of earth. Help me to
attain them and possess them for ever. Amen.
Emergency - Call to Action!
Dear Prayer Warriors,
This is your call to action! We need you to sign up for hours now or 40 Days for Life will be in jeopardy. Wednesday's hours are filled but not without hard work and sacrifice. Vigil captains spent their Sunday on the phone making many calls and leaving many messages.
Some of our prayer warriors committed to 3 or 4 hours at a time to ensure hours were filled! We thank all who signed up and ask those with phone messages to respond. We need all of you to go to vigilforlife.org and sign up!
Things are just not coming together right now and, if we don't get some hours filled soon, we'll have to reassess our campaign. Now is the time to look at your calendar and your schedule. 40 Days for Life requires sacrifice by many, not just a few; please don't sit back and let somebody else do it!
We need your immediate response:
THURSDAY, SEPT. 27: There are 15 hours OPEN!
FRIDAY, SEPT. 28: There are 25 Spots to fill!
These are just too many hours for vigil captains to handle and the weekend doesn't look much better!
"Could you not spend one hour with Me?"
Go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/ monthview or contact info@vigilforlife.org to sign up now!
God bless you!

Because Bishop Morlino and the priests of the diocese will be on a retreat from Sunday until Wednesday afternoon, we were unable to schedule the Kick-Off Rally until Wednesday evening. We are so thankful that Bishop Morlino and Fr. Heilman are able to attend and bless us as we begin our 40 days of prayer and sacrifice; so it was worth the wait!

And You shall renew the face of the earth.
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Knowledge, and grant that I may perceive the will of the Father; show me the nothingness of earthly things, that I may realize their vanity and use them only for Thy glory and my own salvation, looking ever beyond them to Thee, and Thy eternal rewards. Amen.

Prayer Countdown - 6 Days until 40 Days for Life and Another Abortion Center Closed!
Let
us prepare ourselves in prayer for the start of 40 Days for Life (in 6
days!), asking for the Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen us!
Let us pray,
Thou in toil art comfort sweet, Pleasant coolness in the heat, solace in the midst of woe.
Come, O Blessed Spirit of Fortitude, uphold my soul in time of trouble and adversity, sustain my efforts after holiness, strengthen my weakness, give me courage against all the assaults of my enemies, that I may never be overcome and separated from Thee, my God and greatest Good. Amen.
Another Abortion Center Closed!
Dear Friends,
The following message from Shawn Carney, the national campaign director for 40 Days for Life, shows what your involvement can do.... locally - here in Madison. With God all things are possible and, with the phenomenal growth of this vigil, Planned Parenthood in Madison will close its doors too! It's a matter of time....
The next 40 Days for Life campaign is going to be a record-breaker!
From next Wednesday, September 26, through November 4,
40-day campaigns of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil
and community outreach will be held in ...
... 316 locations ...
... all across the United States (49 states and the
District of Columbia) plus Canada, England, Spain,
Australia and Uganda -- our first African campaign!
More than 40 of these locations are launching their
FIRST-EVER 40 Days for Life campaigns.
This is already exciting, but there's NEWS to report
... that shows what could happen over the course of
these 40 days in YOUR community.
Another abortion center where 40 Days for Life vigils
have been conducted has gone out of business and CLOSED!
In Knoxville, Tennessee, the local 40 Days for Life
team confirmed that the owner of the abortion center
just shut down this facility.
This now makes TWENTY-FOUR abortion centers where
40 Days for Life vigils have taken place that are
now totally shut down.
To God be the glory!
People prayed -- humbly and diligently -- in front of
that abortion location for YEARS. This is proof once
again that prayer works ... and that God listens!
If you've not taken part in 40 Days for Life before,
I hope this shows what can happen when you put your
trust in God and step forward in faith.
We need your sacrifice - praying out on the sidewalk! There are many open hours still for Day 1, next Wednesday, Sept. 26. Let's get off to a great start by filling the open hours: 11am through 9pm.

Prayer Countdown- 7 Days to 40 Days for Life and a Turnaround at Planned Parenthood!
Let us prepare ourselves in
prayer for the start of 40 Days for Life (in 7 days!), asking for the
Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen us!
Let us pray,
A Turnaround at Planned Parenthood!
Dear Friends,
Through the efforts of a prayer warrior and a sidewalk counselor, a couple who entered the check-in area at Planned Parenthood on Monday, walked out. They skimmed the literature given to them and decided to go outside to look more closely at the information. After reviewing the brochures, they left! The sidewalk counselor thought they returned NOT to Planned Parenthood, but to the Women's Care Center across the street! Praise God! We are never sure what the outcome of these situations will be but this one is promising and shows the power of prayer and intervention on the sidewalk.
With 40 Days for Life coming in just 7 days, please sign up for hours now. YOUR prayers and presence can make a difference like this!

God bless you!
Let us pray,

fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
Thou, of all consolers best, Visiting the troubled breast, Dost refreshing peace bestow.
Come,
O Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart. Enkindle therein such a
love for God, that I may find satisfaction only in His service, and for
His sake lovingly submit to all legitimate authority. Amen.A Turnaround at Planned Parenthood!

Urgent Prayer Request
Last week we thought we had a baby
saved but now learn that this mother has changed her mind. She is
scheduled for an abortion on Tuesday and prayers are urgently needed.
Below is a prayer which we can offer for this woman and all mothers as
we stand on the sidewalk for 40 Days for Life.
Prayer for the Helpless Unborn
Heavenly Father, in your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood. Help them to see that child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs - made for eternal life. Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother alone can give. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

A Line Waiting to Get Into Planned Parenthood
Dear Friends,
This morning I received a call at 8:55am from a prayer warrior who observed 5 or 6 women waiting for Planned Parenthood to open. On the sidewalk we pray for the conversion of the hearts of the people entering and exiting this abortion mill. We pray that they will find "another way." To make this happen, could those scheduled for a 9:00am shift come a few minutes early, if possible? Your presence on the sidewalk can change these hearts before entering the abortion mill!
Last week Planned Parenthood was closed for a day. It was a beautiful sight to see no cars in the parking lot, no activity.... Let us pray with 40 Days for Life beginning in only 3 weeks that this can be a permanent sight!
Heavenly Father, You have given us a gracious gift, an opportunity to serve You and those You have said are so precious to You, the smallest of little children, the preborn babies. We pray that You will bless our efforts to set aside 40 Days across our nation for fasting, prayer and 24-hour vigil.
In This Issue:
Sidewalk Counselor Training - Registration deadline is Mon., Sept. 10th
The men and women going into Planned Parenthood deserve to know the truth about abortion and contraception and the resources that are available... even as close as across the street! YOU can be the one to share the truth!
