Baby Saved and Another Turnaway!

"Ask and you shall receive...."

Through your persistent prayer, the loving concern of a prayer warrior, and the excellent services of The Women's Care Center, another baby has been saved!  The abortion-minded 16 year-old mother, for whom we requested your prayers, decided that a choice for life was the only choice.  Once she and the baby's father saw the ultrasound, they knew they could do nothing other than give birth to their baby. This is great news and should give us all a boost of encouragement as we fight the forces of evil; but we're not done here yet.  The prayer warrior will stand by them as they journey through the next months but asks for continued prayers.  Next they will decide to either parent their child or give him/her to loving, adoptive parents.  In her words, "....pray that God guides their hearts to a path for their baby's upbringing that will bring them comfort, peace, and strength!"

Add to THIS glorious outcome a report of another turnaway from Planned Parenthood last Friday!

It's clear our presence, witnessing and counseling on the sidewalk, is having an effect.  If we can all pitch in and stay the course, we will one day see this abortuary closing too, adding one more to the 4 that closed last week.  We're entering the second full week of Lent; it's time to reflect on how we're doing.  Can I give more? Can I do more?

We need you to sign up for hours, especially recurrent hours, TODAY!  Remember, we have added hours on Tuesday (9am to 5pm) and Wednesday (8am to 6pm) in order to have a presence during the hours Planned Parenthood is open.

It's great to stop by and pray when you can, but we really need to know that 2 or more people are signed up and will be there each hour they're open!  Last Tuesday I received a call from a man older than Pope Benedict XVI asking me to sign him up for an hour!  It brought tears to my eyes to think of the sacrifice this must be for him.

We can all do more.

Below are the open hours this week; please choose an hour or a recurrent hour and save our vigil captains some phone calls!

Open Hours This Week:
Tuesday, 2/26/13 Only 38% filled!  1 person needed at each hour - 9:00am, 11:00am, noon, and 4:00pm; 2 people needed at each hour - 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm

Wednesday, 2/27/13:  Only 60% filled!  1 person needed at each hour - 8:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, and 4:00pm; 2 people needed at noon

Thursday, 2/28/13:  1 person needed at 5:00pm

Please go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview to view the open hours and sign up.  You can also contact  info@vigilforlife.org to sign up.

4 Planned Parenthood Clinics Closing!

Dear Friends,

I'm so excited about the news that came out today that I had to send another email!  If you haven't heard yet, Planned Parenthood is closing 4 locations in Wisconsin due to a cut in state funding.  Listed closures are in Chippewa Falls, Shawano, Beaver Dam, and Johnson Creek.

Prayers are being answered!  With perseverance, time, and continued witness, we will one day celebrate the closure of the Orin Rd. abortuary also.  As the Canaanite woman had to ask Jesus again and again for Him to expel the demon afflicting her daughter, so do we need to persevere in prayer to rid our world of the evil of abortion.  "O woman, great is your faith.  Let it be done for you just as you wish."

Today's announcement of these closures is perhaps providential since today's Gospel reading speaks of judgment and justice.  "Whatever you have done to the very least of my brothers, you have done to Me..." Matthew 25:31-46.

Open Hours This Week:

Tuesday, 2/19/13:  1 person needed at noon, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, and 4:00pm
Thursday, 2/21/13:  1 person needed at each hour - 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm

Friday, 2/22/13:  1 person needed at 1:00pm

Many hours are still open, especially tomorrow, and we need you to respond to this call for help!  Please go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview to view the open hours and sign up.  You can also contact info@vigilforlife.org to sign up.

Join us on the sidewalk in prayer that by the grace of God and persistent faith, the culture of life may triumph!

Thanks be to God for prayers answered!

Bette

The Parking Lot Was Full!

It was quite a sight to see last Wednesday morning when prayer warriors arrived at 7:30am to see Planned Parenthood employees and their victims drive in and wait for the abortuary to open at 8:00am.  Employees entered and prepared for the day's work of ending life and adding to the coffers of Planned Parenthood, always at the expense of the women and men who didn't know where else to turn and, of course, at the expense of the innocent and defenseless.  This went on throughout the day, the coming and going, faces and body language showing despair, discomfort, and sadness.  It was the same profile on Tuesday.  The hours were different but the parking lot was full, lives were changed, and lives were lost.

We are now entering the first full week of Lent.  How are you doing on your sacrificial offerings so far?  "Could you not spend one hour with Me?"  Take a look at the vigil calendar and you will see many openings this week.

In solidarity with 40 Days for Life, the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, and the 40 days of Lent, we have added hours on Tuesday and Wednesday and desperately need your help.  We are in need of prayer warriors out on the sidewalk from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday and from 8am to 6pm on Wednesday. This is in addition to the regular hours previously scheduled during 365 for Life.

Without our presence on the sidewalk, those entering Planned Parenthood, as well as those who drive by, will think it's an ok place to go, that nothing that goes on within those doors is wrong.  We can and do make a difference!  But we can't do it without ALL of you making a sacrifice!  We need individuals, pastors and parish/church groups, whoever believes that life is a gift and a right to commit to an hour or more of prayer and witness!

Please go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview to view the open hours and sign up.  You can also contact info@vigilforlife.org to sign up.

Open Hours This Week:
Tuesday, 2/19/13:  2 people needed at 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm; 1 person needed at 10:00am and noon
Wednesday, 2/20/13:  1 person needed at 8:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; 2 people needed at 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm
Thursday, 2/21/13:  1 person needed at each hour - 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm
Friday, 2/22/13:  1 person needed at 1:00pm

As you can see, we have a long way to go in filling the schedule this week.  Do not expect someone else to fill that hour; it's time to be a part of God's plan to change hearts and end abortion in all its forms.  Please sign up now!

"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter." -  Prov 24:11

Please continue to pray for the young mother who was scheduled for an abortion consultation appointment a few weeks ago.  She and the father of her child had a follow-up visit at the Women's Care Center, saw an ultrasound of their baby, and left pleased and in anticipation.  However, the follow-up appointment with Planned Parenthood has not been canceled so keep praying that, through the support and counseling they are receiving, they will give their child the right to live.

Abortion Days Discovered! We Need Your Help!

Planned Parenthood

We have recently received information from reliable sources that Planned Parenthood performs abortions all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent and spring 40 Days for Life campaigns in communities around the world.  We are not doing a spring 40 Days vigil but it appears that the Holy Spirit would like us to pray in solidarity with those who are.

Therefore, we are expanding our 365 for Life prayer vigil to include the hours that Planned Parenthood is open on Tuesdays (9:00am to 5:00pm) and Wednesdays (8:00am to 6:00pm), the days they are taking the lives of the innocent and defenseless.

Please look at the open hours in the Vigil for Life calendar, especially on these abortion days and choose an hour or a recurrent hour each week or month.  Lives are being saved by your prayer and presence!  Go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview to sign up.  When the vigil captains call, please answer yes!  If parishes/groups can sign up for blocks of time, that would help tremendously!

What are you doing for Lent?  This is the perfect time to answer Our Lord (Sunday's reading from the prophet Isaiah)....Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send?  Who will go for us?  "Here I am," I said; "send me!"

Update on Abortion-Minded Mother

Friday was an amazing day!

The young mother who was scheduled for an appointment on Friday left Planned Parenthood and headed to the Women's Care Center instead.  Her ultrasound revealed a healthy, growing baby, about 8 weeks along with a strong heartbeat.  We are optimistic that things are moving in the right direction but she did make another appointment with Planned Parenthood for another Friday.  Prayers are needed in a big way!  We really don't know what decisions will be made in this situation in the next few weeks or months so keep at it.  If it is God's will, our prayers will be answered.

More good news - we had another turn-away on Friday!  A couple pulled into the Planned Parenthood parking lot but sat in their car for quite a while, never entering the building.  After some time, they drove out, taking literature from a sidewalk counselor and asking about the free ultrasounds across the street.  They went over to the Women's Care Center and, after a lengthy visit, left carrying information.  Praise God for another turn-away!

Support came from those driving by - from honks, waves, and thumbs up to cars stopping to say thank you for being out there.  Of course, the opposition voices were out too but they were definitely outnumbered!

It is clear that our presence on the sidewalk is making a difference!

Prayers Needed for an Abortion-Minded Young Woman

Dear Prayer Warriors,

I received an urgent request today for prayers for a young girl, age 16, who, at this point in time, is choosing to abort her 10 wk old unborn child... Quoting the prayer warrior who is trying to change her heart, "...as of right now the baby is still within her womb, but I am not sure for how long - her world is spinning out of control."

This girl needs all the prayers and support possible to help her choose life.  Tomorrow (Friday-2/8) she has an appointment at Planned Parenthood for her counseling session, as required by law before having an abortion.

Please pray also for the pro-life person who is supporting and encouraging this young mother, that the Holy Spirit will give her the words and the strength to lead this situation to a positive outcome.  In her own words:

"I, this young girl....and her unborn child need your prayers, and not just simple prayers but deep, hard, inconvenient, all day, reach deep into your soul prayers! I am aware, my work here may not give the result that we all hope, a baby born and adopted to a loving family.... but it is not wasted, this work is never wasted, she deserves all of the love and hope and prayers and understanding we can give her. So please pray, please keep her in your thoughts, pray for the spirit of the child. For me, I ask you to pray for strength and for God to use me in the way He needs me."

For life,

Bette Weisshaar

Help Needed This Week!

We have open hours this week and we need your help!  Our vigil captain has made many calls but time slots for this week remain unfilled.  If you haven't committed to an hour out on the sidewalk for a while, please make a sacrifice this week.  If you haven't participated since the fall 40 Days for Life campaign, please join us again.  Abortions go on all year long, not just during that vigil.  If you've been thinking about signing up for the first time ever, we need you!

Open Hours This Week:
Tuesday, 2/5/13 - 1 person needed at 9:00am and 1 at 10:00am
Thursday, 2/7/13 - 1 person needed at 2:00pm and 2 at 5:00pm
Friday, 2/8/13 - 1 person needed at 2:00pm

Please go to vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview to sign up or say yes if a vigil captain calls to ask for an hour of your time!  You can also contact info@vigilforlife.org.

When you're considering whether one hour in prayer outside Planned Parenthood matters, also consider the following quote from Blessed Mother Teresa:
"We can do no great things, only small things with great love."

Urgent Prayer Request!

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Once again we are in need of your prayers for a young mother and her pre-born child.  Please pray for this 14 year old mother who is 4 weeks pregnant.  Her parents are divorced and her mother wants her daughter to have an abortion but her father; thankfully, does not.  It's a volatile situation and prayers are desperately needed that her mother will agree with her father, that adoption is the answer.   Please keep this family in your prayers, that God will lead them all to the choice for life.

In Christ,
Bette
