St. Gianna, One of the patron saints to pre-born children

St. Gianna Beretta Molla is one of the patron saints to pre-born children.  St. Gianna was a wife, mother and pediatrician.  As a doctor she attested that, "The doctor should not meddle. The right of the child is equal to the right of the mother’s life. The doctor can’t decide; it is a sin to kill in the womb."
When St. Gianna was pregnant with her fourth child, she developed a fibroma on her uterus.  She was given three choices: have the fibroma removed, have a hysterectomy or have an abortion.  St. Gianna chose to have her fibroma removed.  Even though it was removed successfully, her pregnancy was very complicated.  St. Gianna told her husband and doctors, "If you must choose between me and the baby, no hesitation; choose – and I demand it – the baby. Save the baby!"  The delivery of her fourth baby - a girl named Gianna Emanuela - was also very difficult.  Gianna Emanuela was delivered via c-section.  Seven days after her birth (April 28, 1962), her mother - St. Gianna - died from a serious infection (septic peritonitis).

"St. Gianna Beretta Molla was canonized a Saint on May 16, 2004 by Pope John Paul II.  The miracle recognized by the Catholic Church to canonize Gianna Beretta Molla involved a mother, Elizabeth Comparini, who was 16 weeks pregnant in 2003 and sustained a tear in her placenta that drained her womb of all amniotic fluid. Because a normal term of pregnancy is 40 weeks, Comparini was told by her doctors the baby's chance of survival was "nil." Comparini said she prayed to Gianna Molla asking for her intercession, and was able to deliver a healthy baby despite the lack of amniotic fluid."( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gianna_Beretta_Molla )

Pope John Paul II declared Gianna "a simple, but more than ever, significant messenger of divine love." (Canonization of Six New Saints; Homily of John Paul II, Sixth Sunday of Easter, 16 May 2004).

 TURN AWAY!!

On Wednesday, 3/12 - one of our very faithful prayer warriors and sidewalk counselors called to say that a young woman spoke with her.  After speaking with our prayer warrior, the young woman spoke with the man she was with and they both went over to the Women's Care Center.  After they were done at the Women's Care Center, they walked over to the Planned Parenthood parking lot, retrieved their car and left.  We are not sure whether the young woman is pregnant or not however please keep them in your prayers.

Our Legislator of the Year award will be given to State Rep. Dan LeMahieu, who is retiring this year, for a lifetime of dedication to pro-life legislation and action.

 A PRAYER  FOR THE UNBORN
+
Heavenly Father, in your love for us, protect us
against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones
to whom you have given the gift of life.
+
Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant
in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.
+
Help them to see that the child they carry
is made in your image, as well as theirs, and made for eternal life.
+
Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts
to love their babies and give them birth
and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.
+
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever, Amen.
